It will be located in Xinglongchang Township, Enyang District, about by road from the city center. The airport received approval from the State Council and the Central Military Commission of China on 3 July 2014. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2015, and the airport is expected to open in 2020.〔 ==Facilities== Bazhong Airport will be a class 4C airport, with a 2,600-meter runway.
